Employee Profiling Specialists - Benchmark Your Team

Introducing John Shenton – Dorset Business Consultant

Hello. My name is John Shenton and I have been running “the Profile People” for over ten years now.

The business looks to help managers, in general terms, to get the best out of people.

Having looked after nearly every element of business management over the years, both in the UK and abroad, I like to think in terms of two fundamental elements that make up a business plan.

We start with the strategic planning, based on management by objectives.

Objectives set out measurable details, what, when, where, how, and why, allowing us to review, where a business is now, looking forward to where we need it to be, in a defined timescale.

At this stage it ignores the people in terms of required working styles and only looks at direction and resources overall.

Once we have a clear definable picture in mind, then we can move to phase two, the who.

We will have defined what jobs need doing and what skills are required to allow them to achieve the targets set in the strategic view.

Managing tasks through people is about building teams of people, where the total skills needed, both hard and soft skills, occur within the team, and every member of the team understands who to turn to, when that skill is required.

This forms a synergistic balance, where the value of the total team ends up greater than the value of all the individuals working alone.

People values split into the choices they make for themselves.

Hard skills are easy to measure by testing directly against a value set for the job.

Soft skills are equally as important, but are often left until it is too late.

There are people who can do, those who cannot do, and others who choose not to do.

This is where the Profile People come in to help a business find the team that wants to be a part of the overall solution.

Please remember, if you want to take this opportunity with your team, every member needs to be on board. If someone wants to fight against the plan, then it will divert our efforts to help you build a stronger team. For more detailed information about any of your team, or the whole team, call today for a trial profile on me, free of charge, or send me an email with your details and I will call you.
