John Shenton – Background experience
This is not about me. It’s about what I have experienced over the years that offers your business an opportunity for your future.
To start with – you would want to understand that my formal management education enables me to offer advice which has relevance to sectors of your business.
Most of my training has been around business planning, strategy forecasting, operations, sales, service and general finance.
These have been put to the test as I have undertaken roles in the UK and abroad, in charge of significant financial sales targets and people management.
Much of my background has been actively involved with computer systems going back as far as “Dick Pick” 4GL systems with a business based at Aston University. My first apprenticeship was in light electrical systems using “maintenance dependency problem resolution” as one of the first Xerox apprentices in Uxbridge.
Management training continued for over twelve years with Xerox, considered to be one of the best in the industry.
I have experience working on corporate projects for companies like Nokia. I was employed as the National Manager for their IT systems in the UK travelling between Finland, Sweden and the UK.
I was involved bringing the first laser printer into the UK before IBM and creating the first insurance-based insurance system to support maintenance programmes for IT equipment.
Major projects, both from the perspective of activity management and financial management of the sales and delivery cycles, came about working with an international corporate moves business, where we took on some of the biggest moves in London and the Home counties attracting multi-million-pound budgets.
In between corporate jobs, my lifestyle gave me opportunities to run a small race preparation business for cars for a couple of years. An eye opener to the management of cash in business.
I also worked with an international supplier of events to companies like VAG.
I have always loved the creative side of business and have worked creating corporate video for Alfa Romeo and other companies where I sold and created the story boards and scripts and delivered voice overs on occasions.
In summary then – I have been involved in the management of people and strategy for both large international corporates and the smallest SME business for over thirty years
I am a qualified psychometric profiler and have designed and built an application to better provide communications and problem-solving solutions, together with DISC profiling.
I have been a full member of the IOD and the AFSM.
I work with all POSITIVE aspects of people and business management, on the basis that if your people enjoy coming to work for you and your company, then you are on to a winner.
